Short Course: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

This course provides learners with an introduction to CPR that prepares them to provide first hand survival skill. CPR is an emergency procedure performed to restore breathing and blood circulation to a victim until professional help arrives.
This 2-days course will be conducted with theory and practical components, which are:
Theoretical components consist of discussions, sharing experience, presentations on topics:
- Basic life support skills and knowledge, reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
- Critical concepts of high-quality CPR
Practical components, where participants will be divided into small groups for:
- Use of manikin
- Introduction to Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Demonstration given by facilitators and return demo by participants, which includes:
– Rescuer CPR for adult and infant
– Rescuer CPR for adult and infant
– Recovery Position
Intended learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- enhance their knowledge on the importance of immediate response during life threatening emergencies
- identify the need to activate the Emergency Response Team / ambulance
- perform the adult, child and infant CPR correctly and effectively
Target Audience
Healthcare workers, caretakers, educators in schools or nursery, corporate and industrial workers, safety and security personnel. This course is recommended for participants who has no prior knowledge on emergency response.
