Patients coming for venipuncture for lab tests and intravenous cannulations are an ongoing challenge in healthcare. Obesity, extremes of age and several medical conditions like severe burns, chemotherapy patients, end stage renal disease may make it extremely difficult for the health care professional to gain vascular access.
This workshop explores different aspects of phlebotomy – starting from routine blood taking to the difficult vascular access issues.
Objectives
- To produce competent phlebotomist.
- To stimulate a life-long pursuit of education in the medical field.
- To develop interpersonal skills in communicating with patient.
- To provide better educational and employment opportunities.
