Phlebotomy Training Workshop
Patients coming for venipuncture for lab tests and intravenous cannulation are sometimes an ongoing challenge in healthcare. Obesity, extremes of age and several medical conditions- severe burns, repeated chemotherapy, distorted normal vasculature as in End Stage Renal Disease, may make it extremely difficult for the health professional to gain intravenous access for the purpose of drawing blood or giving intravenous medications and fl uid.
This workshop explores different aspects of phlebotomy- starting from the routine phlebotomies to collect blood samples and intravenous cannulation
Objectives
- To produce competent Phlebotomist
- To stimulate a life-long pursuit of education in the medical field.
- To develop interpersonal skills in communicating with the patient
- To provide better educational and employment opportunities
