Oral Surgery Masterclass 2023: Essentials of Impacted Third Molar Surgery – Getting the Basics Right

Impacted third molar removal surgeries are one of the most common minor oral surgical procedures performed. For the procedure to be performed safely a thorough knowledge of the anatomy, diagnostic and treatment planning skills, and the knowledge of surgical skills is essential. Without these key set of skills clinicians may encounter various challenges while attempting surgical removal of third molars compromising patient safety.
This course is designed for dental practitioners who wish to perform third molar surgeries in a safe and effective manner with attention to patient safety and wellbeing. It will focus on systematic clinical diagnosis, treatment planning and techniques of impacted third molar removal.
The course includes lectures, demonstrations, case discussions and hands-on sessions on simulated models. Certificate of attendance with CPD points will be provided at end of the course.
Objectives
Upon completion of the programme, the candidate should be able to perform
- Patient assessment, history taking, examination and diagnosis
- Treatment planning including CBCT interpretation
- Impacted third molar removal
- Technical attributes including incision, bone removal, sectioning and suturing
