Integrating Acupuncture in Medical Practice – An Example of Acupuncture Anaesthesia

Acupuncture has been practised for centuries in China for its ability to modulate and manage pain. The ability to induce analgesia has now brought the practice of acupuncture as an alternative to conventional anaesthesia to both Western countries and the rest of Asia. The Chinese Medicine faculty at IMU is conducting a workshop to give a brief understanding regarding the history of acupuncture’s anaesthesia practices; from the historical development perspective to its underlying mechanism and clinical advantages. It will also include updates on the progress of acupuncture anaesthesia clinical trials currently conducted in Malaysia.
