This workshop aims to equip researchers and laboratory personnel with the skills to handle and package potentially dangerous infectious substances, prepare and process the correct documentation, and reduce risks to themselves and those around them. Participants will be provided with information and hands-on training on the classification, packaging and labelling of relevant dangerous goods, such as those used in medical research and diagnostic fields, and awareness of local and international shipment regulations. The workshop will also promote safe and efficient handling practices in the laboratory under biosafety and biorisk management.
Objectives
- Equip participants with the skills to handle and package potentially dangerous infectious substances.
- Provide awareness on dangerous goods, personal protective equipment (PPE), classification, packaging, and labelling.
- Prepare and process the correct documentation and shipping requirements following national and international shipment regulations.
- Promote safe and efficient handling practices in the laboratory under biosafety guidelines.
