HANDS-ON WORKSHOP ON REAL-TIME qPCR

- 24 February 2023 (Friday)
2:45pm – 5:30pm (GMT +8)
Online lecture sessions via Zoom - 25 February 2023 (Saturday)
8:30am – 3:00pm
Onsite hands-on at International Medical University, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
In Collaboration With:
Two parts make up this unified workshop is aimed to deliver
- Foundational lectures covering aspects of good sample preparation, distinct detection systems (SYBR vs. PROBE), and a wide range of real-time qPCR applications.
- Nucleic acid extraction techniques using cutting-edge magnetic bead technology and SYBR real-time qPCR for semiquantitative data analysis in the hands-on lab session. Participants will benefit from the grounded experiential learning provided by the combination of learning theory along with achieving hands-on experience that will better able them to implement these strategies in their own research practises.
Objectives
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Explain the working principle, standard operating procedure, troubleshooting techniques and applications of RT-qPCR.
- Extract total DNA from human buccal swab samples.
- Quantify and standardize the DNA sample.
- Familiarize with preparation of reagent and master mix.
- Interpret real time qPCR results and perform analysis.
