GENOMIC MEDICINE – Introduction and Application of Liquid Biopsy in Medical Oncology and Research

CPD POINTS
- A1 – 4 (By MMA)
Liquid biopsies have the advantage of being largely non-invasive and providing a vast amount of information for the detection and monitoring of diseases such as cancer. This seminar will provide an overview of the several techniques to detect and analyse circulating tumour cells (CTCs), cell-free tumor DNA (ctDNA), miRNA cell-free tumour RNA (ctRNA), and proteins in liquid biopsies. Participants will be introduced to general aspects of genomic profiling including proper sampling, sequencing, and data analysis. Additional lectures will cover potential areas of research and case discussion in the field of cancer diagnostics.
Objectives
- To define and describe the liquid biopsy technique.
- To outline the steps and different technologies involved in liquid biopsy.
- To understand the application of liquid biopsy in medical oncology and its advantages.
- To describe areas of potential research in liquid biopsy techniques and application.
