Fabrication of successful denitive prosthesis necessitates extensive clinical knowledge, material manipulation, artistic skill, and the integration of art and science. The primary goal of a denitive ocular prosthesis should be optimal anatomical restoration of the defect and aesthetic remit with the prosthesis. To accomplish this, a clinician or a technologist must rst understand the various clinical scenarios of the defect and then restore them. Proper communication between clinician and technologist, combined with appropriate planning, would result in a successful ocular rehabilitation.
The full-day workshop will include Face-to-Face lectures related to various clinical scenarios combined with a hands-on workshop involving tips and tricks of laboratory techniques.
All participants will get a chance to observe the clinical and laboratory procedures and carry out the hands-on activities involved in fabricating an ocular prosthesis.
Objectives
- Identify and summarise the important biological features of different ocular defects and their expected outcome
- Synthesis and differentiate the treatment planning options for case-by-case scenarios
- Demonstrate the technique about clinical and laboratory steps including anophthalmic socket moulding and colour science of denitive ocular prosthesis
- Evaluate and recognise the prosthesis outcome and education for maintenance
