The workshop is designed to help participants develop, enhance and refine their English language knowledge and communication skills in the context of the health profession. It is an interactive workshop that is structured to hone all four English language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

The language focus is generated by topics related to workplace settings and will concentrate on the practical application of the English language.

Objectives

  • Enhance the English language grammar and rules.
  • Develop reading skills to:
    – locate specific information from healthcare topics.
    – identify details, main points and opinion from healthcare topics.
  • Enhance speaking skills by role-playing healthcare scenarios with confidence and clarity.
  • Employ active listening skills to:
    – identify specific information, opinion and/or purpose of short conversation in healthcare workplace.
    – follow a recorded presentation on a range of healthcare topics.
  • Employ written conventions and practices for written communication used in the health professions.

 English Language Requirement
Participants who choose to attend this workshop should possess a basic command
and understanding of the English language.
