There is an increase in awareness among general dentists on the importance of healthy soft tissues around teeth. However, there is need for the enhancement of clinical skills of the dentists to achieve healthy soft tissues in patients. There is a lack of adequate training in undergraduate dental education on the management of soft tissues around the teeth. This workshop is organised to upgrade the clinical skills of dentists by providing hands-on training on the harvesting and utilisation of soft tissue grafts for treatment of recession on a goat jaw and crown lengthening techniques in Periodontology.

Objectives

At the end of this workshop, the participants will be able

• To appraise various type of soft tissue grafting and techniques of providing healthy and aesthetics soft tissue support of dentition.
• To develop surgical skills of harvesting soft tissue grafts from palate for treatment of gingival recession*.
• To appraise indications and perform techniques of crown lengthening procedure to enhance prosthodontic outcomes*.
• To discuss prevention and management of complication for soft tissue surgeries and crown lengthening.
