The aim of this one-day workshop is to expose participants to current best practice in scientific writing and the publication of oral health research findings. Participants will be shown a structured and adaptable approach to paper writing which greatly facilitates the preparation of research reports for publication. They will also be given insight into the dental publishing milieu and how to deal with editors and reviewers, along with advice on how to build and maintain an international research profile.

Academicians, researchers, Ministry of Health dentists and postgraduate students who wish to improve their skills in writing and publishing scientific research articles should attend. The workshop will include a series of plenaries and interactive talks covering the guidelines for publication.

Objectives

  • To illustrate the IMRaD structure for article preparation
  • To navigate the process of dealing with editors, responding to reviews, understanding the reasons for rejection and confirming paper proofs
  • To generate a research profile through meetings, Scopus and Google Scholar, ResearchGate and the media
